🏛️ About the Judgment of Paris
On 24 May 1976, British wine merchant Steven Spurrier organised a blind tasting in Paris pitting top California Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons against the finest wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux. In a result that shocked the wine world, California took first place in both categories with Chateau Montelena's 1973 Chardonnay besting the white Burgundies, and Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon triumphing over the Bordeaux first growths.
The event shattered the assumption of French supremacy, putting California and the entire New World firmly on the global wine map. Fifty years on, California remains one of the world's most dynamic and innovative wine regions.

🏛️ About California Wine Month
The California Wine Institute's 8th annual California Wine Month returns this summer with Hong Kong as its home base under the theme "BOLDNESS", commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Judgment of Paris, when Californian wines famously defeated top French estates in a blind tasting, rewriting wine history forever. That pioneering, boundary-pushing spirit lives on today through "Wines on a Mission" and a commitment to sustainability, brought to life across a summer-long programme of trade events, retail promotions, masterclasses, and public experiences throughout Hong Kong and Macau.

A true son of Burgundy, Pierre traded generations of family tradition for six years abroad in Asia and Hong Kong, before returning home with a new vision for Chablis: parcel-specific cuvées, natural fermentation, zero herbicides, hand-harvesting, and wines aged in oak, amphorae, and stainless steel with no fining or filtration. Every wine is crafted using only indigenous yeasts, with no fining or filtration, letting each vineyard speak for itself.
