🍇 The Producer
Shangri-La Wine — From vineyards planted between 1,800m and 2,800m in Yunnan's Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Shangri-La harnesses extreme altitude, intense UV, and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts to produce wines of surprising concentration and freshness. The Altitude series traces the estate's vertical terroir step by step with Chardonnay at the lower elevations, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon higher up, building toward the flagship Sacred Land Rongzhong Village, a single-village red from ancient vines at the roof of Chinese winemaking.

🏛️ About the Producer: Mutsu Hassen (陸奥八仙)
Mutsu Hassen is the flagship brand of Hachinohe Shuzō (八戸酒造), a brewery founded in 1775 in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture at the northern tip of Honshū, where harsh winters, pristine snowmelt water, and premium local rice varieties such as Hanafubuki and Gin'otome create ideal conditions for sake of exceptional purity and depth.
Now in its ninth generation, the brewery has undergone a remarkable renaissance, evolving from a traditional regional producer into one of Japan's most exciting and award-winning sake houses. Under the house philosophy of crafting sake that is vivid, aromatic, and food-friendly, Mutsu Hassen has earned recognition at the Annual Japan Sake Awards, the International Wine Challenge (IWC), and Kura Master in Paris.

🏡 The Domaine
Rooted in a family legacy stretching back to post-war Touraine, Domaine Mérieau is today led by Jean-François, who took the reins in 2000 after studying in Bordeaux and working in South Africa. The 35-hectare estate sits on the south-facing slopes of the Cher River in the tiny village of Saint-Julien-de-Chédon, with vines including century-old Côt and Pineau d'Aunis. Farmed organically with hand-harvesting and no commercial yeasts, the wines are vinified in a cave carved during the 14th century, a living testament to five generations of winemaking.
