Founded in 1886 in the heart of Valais, the estate is built on over a century of family continuity. Winemaker Gilles Besse, originally a jazz saxophonist with no formal wine background, joined the domaine at his uncle's request in the early 1990s and has since helped redefine the perception of Swiss wine through precision, sustainability, and a deep respect for Alpine terroir. Today regarded as one of Switzerland's benchmark producers.

One of the few grand Champagne houses still family-run, Taittinger is today led by Pierre Taittinger's great-grandchildren Vitalie and Clovis. The estate works 288 hectares across 37 crus, with Chardonnay at its core. Its UNESCO-listed cellars sit 18 metres underground in fourth-century chalk quarries beneath the ruins of the Saint-Nicaise Abbey in Reims. The flagship Comtes de Champagne is a Blanc de Blancs aged ten years in those historic cellars. The Taittinger Collection Series, including the 1978 Vasarely bottle is released only in great vintages, designed by world-renowned artists, and aged five or more years on the lees for complexity.

🏛️ About the Producer

Chris Ringland is a milestone in Australian winemaking history. Dubbed "The King of Shiraz," he crafted the 1996 Three Rivers Shiraz, the first Australian wine ever awarded a perfect 100 points by Robert Parker. To date, he has achieved five perfect 100-point scores. His core vineyard spans just 1.5 hectares of vines planted in 1910, yielding minuscule quantities, sometimes only a few hundred bottles per vintage. Top cuvées are aged for up to 60 months (5 years) in new French oak barriques, sculpting wines of monumental structure and profound depth. Despite alcohol levels reaching 18% or above from grapes harvested at extreme ripeness, his wines achieve a miraculous equilibrium.
